A bit about Kat...
Kat Colmer is a Sydney-based author and teacher librarian who writes coming-of-age stories with humour and heart. Her debut novel The Third Kiss was published by Entangled Teen (2017) and her second young adult novel Can’t Beat the Chemistry was released by Australian publisher Rhiza Edge (2019). Kat’s award-winning short fiction has appeared in the Little Gems anthologies Peridot and Onyx, as well as the NSW School Magazine.

Kat has a Diploma of Education with a Masters in Teacher Librarianship and loves working with teens. Over a decade of classroom and school librarianship experience coupled with writing for young adults has enabled Kat to run thriving book clubs, writers’ groups, and other literature initiatives.
As an author with a teaching background, Kat’s workshops and presentations ensure for an engaging experience covering everything from writing craft to creative inspiration, as well as pertinent and practical teacher professional development. Kat is a member of the NSW Writers’ Centre and an author with The Children’s Bookshop Speakers Agency. Having spent a significant portion of her childhood in Germany, Kat speaks fluent German and is looking forward to the day she’ll be able to read one of her novels in Deutsch. When not writing, teaching or reading the latest in YA fiction, Kat spends time with her two resident YA critics—aka her children. Her latest young adult novel, Remind Me Why I’m Here, is out now with Rhiza Edge. |
